It is classified as a vaccine

It is for the treatment of HPV or a virus that causes warts
human papillomavirus (HPV) types 16, 18, 6, and 11.

Types 6 and 11 often cause genital warts, while 16 and 18 can cause cervical cancer.

The vaccine is preventive, not therapeutic. This means that the goal is treatment
prior to sexual encouters, exposure to virus and genital warts themselves

Once exposed to HPV,  Gardasil is not for treatment

The vaccine has been approved for young women.

It is recommended for women 11 to 26.

It is currently being tested for young men.
