This is the most malignant form of breast cancer – occurs in 3% of all breast cancers
It is quite rare.
It is a rapidly growing, often painful mass that enlarges the breast
The skin becomes:
- Red
- Inflamed
- Warm
- Swollen breast
- Tenderness
- Color change
The important aspect of this breast cancer is that the traditional symptoms do not apply to inflammatory cancer.
It can often mimic breast abscess or infection
Symptoms won’t go away following treatment of antibiotics
Biopsy is often necessary for complete diagnosis
Treatment
- Chemotherapy
- Surgery
- Radiation
- Hormone therapy [tamoxifen or anastrozole]
