Benzoyl Peroxide

Benzoyl Peroxide is an organic compound that consists of two benzoyl group bridge by a peroxide link.

It is primarily used for Acne treatment.

But it can also be used for improving flour, for bleeching hair and teeth, and many other uses.

It has been determined that this compound falls under the essential medicines by the World Health Organizations (WHO)

Use in Acne Treatment

It works as a peeling agent.

This improves skin turnover and cleans the pores.

It specifically reduces the bacterial count of Propionibacterium acnes and acts as a antimicrobial.

Used in Combination with:

–   Salicylic acid
–   Sulfur
–   Erythomycin
–   Clindamycin
–   Adapalene

Side Effects

–   Skin dryness
–   Skin irritation
–   Burning
–   Itching
–   Swelling

Safety Issues

–  In high concentrations – can be potentially explosive
