Is a median and small vessel inflammation of autoimmune origin
Typically seen in the vessels of the lungs
Can also be involved in the gastrointestinal system, heart, skin, kidneys and other organs.
Often seen in individuals with asthma
It is a rather rare disease
3 stages:
1.) Affects sinuses and initial symptoms of allergies
2.) Acute asthma [that has not previously been seen in the individual]
3.) Additional organs involvement
Treatment
Acute phase
• Corticosteroids
• Cyclophosphamide
Once in remission
• Azathioprine
• Methotrexate
