Progestins decrease the risk of estrogen Replacement Therapy” target=”_self”>Hormone Replacement Therapy</a></span> caused or associated uterus cancers

Uses:

1.)   Abnormal menstrual bleeding
2.)   Amenorrhea
3.)   Endometriosis
4.)   Hormone Replacement Therapy

When used in combination with estrogen – may increase risk for  heart attack, stroke , blood clots found in lungs [pulmonary embolism] or legs.

If used for menopause in combination with estrogen then the usage should be expected for only a short period of time

Side Effects

   -    Nausea
   -    Vomiting
   -    Weight gain
   -    Depression
   -    Change in menses

Pregnancy  –  do not use in first 4 months
