This occurs when vaginal bleeding occurs 6 months or more after an individual has stopped her menstrual function [menopause].

Menopause occurs typically at ages 40-55.

But typically after menopause – you should not experience any bleeding.

Some women experience some amount of bleeding following menopause which may be irregular and infrequent.

Common causes can be:

-  High levels of estrogen medication
-  Atrophic vaginitis
-  Atrophic endometrium
-  Cancer
-  Polyps
-  Trauma
-  and others.

Pelvic inspection is necessary and biopsy may be appropriate.

D&C and other Gynecologic Procedures – may be informative

Treatment involves identifying the cause.
