The CPAP is a machine whose function is to provide continuous warm, humid airflow into the airway through a machine which is connected to a tube through a mask that is worn over the nose and mouth during sleep. This machine will gently force the airway open, so that it does not collapse during sleep.
Healthy sleep is quite more difficult then most think. Recently I was asked about risk factors and concerns for not getting enough sleep. Insomnia or difficulty sleeping can be detrimental and should be closely monitored.
